does the 's' mean sports or sedan?
What does the 'S' in a car model name mean like the lexus LS 460?
It stands for "Luxury Sedan"
I think it just means 'Spensive'
Reply:There is a method to the madness! Lexus actually does have a strategy when naming cars.
If the 2nd consonant is "S" it will be a sedan.
If the 2nd consonant is "X" it will be an SUV.
If the 2nd consonant is "C" it will be a coupe. However it will be interesting to see what they will call the new IS coupe. IS-C possibly? And then the performance version might be IS-CF? lol we'll see.
Also if the last consonant is "h" it will be a hybrid.
Reply:Thus far, there have only been:
LS = sedan
GS = sedan
IS = sedan
ES = sedan
RX = suv
GX = suv
LX = suv
SC = coupe
so I would say the second "s" stands for Sedan. Although if rumors are true of a 2-door IS, then that designation might either blow the "sedan" out or it will have to be called IC350 or IC-F.
Reply:"S"
/Sedan
/Sport
/Special
L normally stands for Luxury.
Hope this helps.
Reply:I would venture a guess that it stands for Sedan or Luxury Sedan. I would also guess that it would be the most expensive version of the car.
Reply:with Lexus the LS stands for Luxury Sedan
Reply:sedan
Reply: Depending on the maker, it could stand for "Sport," or "Series."
Reply:Luxury Sedan like the guy up there said.
Reply:Sexy
