Is it French? Can you point me to a site where I can find out what it means?
What does the name "Mitou" mean? It was the name of my aunt's cat and she said it was French.?
It doesn't mean anything. It's just a name given to an animal, that's all.
Reply:Was she a fan of jazz? There was a famous Haitian performer whose nickname was "Ti Mitou" ("ti" being short for "petit" --little). http://www.rockmasters.com/flyers-2007/t...
Reply:Mitou means nothing. This is a pure invention.
Matou means cat .. So maybe she meant matou ( with a A) but found that Mitou ( with a I) sounded cuter

What does the last name "Von Ferdinand" sound like meaning: is it German,Latin,or french?
where does this last name come from.
What does the last name "Von Ferdinand" sound like meaning: is it German,Latin,or french?
Son of Ferdinand or from the region of Ferdinand, since Ferdinand is a proper name the first one.
Von Lichtenstein means that you come from the municipality of Lichtenstein. It is German. Of course adorning a name is pompous so nobility was the only one using it. Since monarchy was outlawed in 1919 Von became just a particle in the name.
Reply:Haha you heard it in Lola Erase Una Vez right? Report Abuse
Reply:French?
Reply:Ferdinand doesn't sound German, but "von" is definitely German. Someone named Ferdinand could have went from Italy and migrated to Germany and became noble or something.
Reply:The word ' von ' means either ' of ' or ' from. ' Ferdinand ' is a proper name for a man. It is German. I don't think there are any towns etc. by that name.It comes from a German speaking country.
Reply:its german
von is a title ;

you can find out more about this on the link above
Reply:it is German. am sure at a 100%!
Reply:"von" is german for "of", and ferdinand is a spanish name..
von is used in germany in lots of surnames
its like of like the english "son" in johnson, jackson, robertson, etc.
Reply:its totally german
Reply:It's German. Von does mean "of" but it simply indicates that you're noble. If your name was Frank Coolness and they made you a noble you would have changed your name to Frank von Coolness.
Reply:French
Reply:Von is a German word which means 'of', is means that the owner of that name is from the German aristocracy. Came from the time when the noblemen took the name of their lands.
In French the nobility particle is : de , it means exactly the same thing
Von Ferdinand seems a bit strange but if you heard it in a soap opera it was probably meant to be funny.

Reply:Genealogy is about researching dead ancestors.

Reply:Sorry closest I could get to it was " Virag" and that's Hungarian originally a nickname meaning little flower.

Please tell me which baby name you prefer?
I am trying to decide which would be a better name and really like your imput if it is constructive. Here are the names
Tiana
OR
Kaley
You could comment on spelling or what this name means to you and I am really interested in different inputs from a wide array.
But all I ask is for you to please tell me which you prefer and just briefly WHY you like the preferred one...if you dislike both, please breifly say why? thank you SO much guys.
Please tell me which baby name you prefer?
Tiana-I love it!! Unique and adorable!
Kaley-its common, but I like the spelling Kaelee best.
Reply:Kaley is the better of the two, I guess. Tiana is okay, it's just not my style. It sort of sounds like a stripper name or kind of white trash. I don't know why I think that, really it's not that bad. (maybe because it sounds like tijuana)
Kaley is super-trendy.
I would prefer Kaley spelled Kaylee or Caylee. But, I don't like all the variations in spelling that are out there, people will always have it confused (Kaylie, Kaelee, Kaley, Caylee, Kayleigh ect.) Not to mention there are a bunch of very similar names (Kylie, Kalla, Kayla, Kaylin, Keely, Kallie, Kasey ect.) That all bugs me and the name seems a bit juvenille...even though it is cute. I guess almost all K names seem juvenille to me. I don't know why. It's just me.
Reply:Hey, wow my name! =]
Well I prefer Kaley, and im guessing its not Kayley, so I like the spelling Callie. =] And I like this name better because I think its a beautiful name and I love the meaning, and well its my name lol. =]
=]
Reply:I like both names but I like Tiana much better. Its very pretty and not half as common as Kaley. If you did like Kaley better I like the spelling Kaylie. Also some names kind of like those that I really like are
Teira (pronounced teer-a)
or Keira (same but keer-a)
Reply:I like Kaley but I prefer it spelled Caylie or Kaylie, simply because I think that the -lie is pretty and girly.
I'm not a big fan of Tianna because frankly, it just doesn't sound very good to me.
Reply:I really like Kaley. It can be spelled; Kalee, Kaylee, Kaleigh (love that way). I like it because it's normal! It's a very fun, cute, name that you can make cute nicknames out of too!, like Kay, or Kay Kay!
Reply:I like Kaley spelled either Kaley or Kaylee. It's a very cute and sweet name.
But Kaylee Tianna is cute if you want to use both.
Reply:I like Kaley best. I wouldn't spell it Kaley because it sounds much like it could be said "Callie". I would spell it:
Kaylie
Kailey
Kaylee
Kailee
etc.
Good Luck! :)
Reply:I prefer Kaley but spelled Kalie. I just like it better than Tiana.
