I want to register a DBA (doing business as) name for a computer service and repair company. Besides running a Google check, is there any other way to check whether a business name is already in use before deciding on a few good names to choose from? I'm trying to think of a name that is completely original yet simple. I'm reminded of the simplicity of names like Dell and Gateway. There was a time when those names didn't mean anything to the public, but a lot of advertising and professional branding strategies changed that. Now when you think "Dell", you think "computers". I want to do the same thing in my local area, but every name I've thought of is either taken or it just doesn't seem to "do it". For example, it doesn't "roll off the tongue", or it's difficult to remember or spell. Here's what I'm asking for - one of 3 things:
1.) Inspirational/creative sources online.
2.) Website where I can check available DBA register
3.) A brandable word that could say "computers"
Help choosing a business name for computer service?

Reply:if you are in the UK don't you have to register with Companies House?
Reply:if you are doing repair service and or selling computers or software you should be getting a general business license if not any other. You can call you city hall to see if there are any other name out there with your intended name.
