What does my japanes name means?

Hi guys! I found out that my japanese name is Rikako Tokudaiji but i don't what it means =( At the site where i found out that, they didn't explain me the meaning...

depends on kanji and combination


ri = there are 39 kanji


ka = there are 130 kanji


ko = means child (this kanji is for girl's name's ending. not so much strong meanin')


e.g.


rikako 1. pear's flower / fruit / aromatic (child)


rikako 2. beautiful flower / fruit / aromatic (child)


rikako 3. slim/slender/clean flower (child) ... etc.





tokudaiji


court noble's last name (one of the japanese noble, peerage, one of the seiga)


there are tokudaiji temple in kyoto. he (tokudaiji : 1095~1157) built this temple.

oh and just asking, which site told you that would be your japanese name (it's most likely a generated name anyways based on the letters/characters in your regular name but w/e)?

If it is written in Kitagana, most probably is a direct translation from your English name.





My English name is Janlyn which is translated into Jyanlin.





PS: If you really want your name to be written in Japanese, it is best to ask someone who really known Japanese.

Reply:It depends on Kanji used in it.





Example:





徳大寺(tokudaiji)


徳(toku): virtue. 大(dai): being big. 寺(ji): a temple.





里佳子(rikako)


里(ri): home, village. 佳(ka): being excellent, beautiful, good. 子(ko): a child.





理香子(rikako)


理(ri): reason. 香(ka): fragrance, scent. 子(ko): a child.





The meaning of Kanji mentioned above is common in Japan. My dictionary says 理 also has the meaning of a "streak run down in a gem", but probably few J people know it as it is the uncommon use.





As to Tokudaiji, the Kanji mentioned above should be generally used. About Rikako, besides the examples shown above, it can be another combination of the Kanji. It can be 里香子 or 理佳子.


Otherwise, (ri) can be 利、梨、璃、莉。(ka) can be 華、花、果、夏、歌。These are what occur to me as Kanji generally used in "Rikako". Each of them has each meaning.


F.Y.I., your family name appears first in Japanese style: e.g. 徳大寺　理香子.
