On baseball scoreboards in staduims, what does the number in front of the team name mean?

The number means the number of the Pitcher pitching for that team in that game like in Citizen Bank Park (Phillies) it has....

46 NYY 46 is Andy Pettitte

57 NYM 57 is Johan Santana

On baseball scoreboards in staduims, what does the number in front of the team name mean?
the number of the pitcher on the team
Reply:Pitchers' jersey numbers.

Before the game begins -- scheduled starting pitchers.

During the game -- current pitchers.

After the game -- winning and losing pitchers.
Reply:The pitcher for each team.
Reply:the pitcher (i think)
Reply:The number of the pitcher. So if the Yankees are playing the Red Sox and Andy Pettite was pitching for NYY you would see a 46. If Lester was pitching for BOS you would see a 31.
Reply:how many games out of 1st place
